When he returned to an economically depressed post-civil war Menorca, he set up a small factory adjoining the farmhouse to provide work for local people, and built a large stone building for the purpose where he began producing detailed model kits of different designs of traditional Menorcan boats and small ships, which were sold largely to the British market.
